About Us

Viscount Regent - Keyboard

Formed in 2017 by Mark Gatrell, South Coast Organs Ltd. provides a wide range of services for both the pipe organ and digital (electronic) organ markets.

Through Mark’s years of experience in working with pipe organs and his more recent involvement with the digital sphere, he has identified the very real need for an adaptable offering within the changing musical landscape – particularly in churches. Too often places of worship, schools, concert halls, and other centres of music are expected to compromise on flexibility as a result of budgetary constraints. This situation is unacceptable, and can be counterproductive to a comprehensive musical tradition.

Therefore, we have developed a holistic approach to advise and consult on what the best options are for our customers – whether they have a pipe organ in place that requires tuning or overhauling, are looking for a new instrument, or want to have multiple instruments.

We do our very best to provide as many viable options as possible – for the short and long term. To help us achieve this we work closely with a team of skilled pipe organ builders; musicians, sound engineers, and custom digital organ designers.

Organs and organ music are our passion and our objective is to preserve the quality of the music and sound to the best of our ability.

South Coast Organs is able to offer a wide array of serving options for pipe organs in any environment.  Whether it be from a simple case of tuning to a full clean and overhaul.

Our Viscount range of digital organs is extensive, and affords churches, cathedrals, concert halls, and private homes with a whole host of flexible solutions. Thanks to the patented Physis ® Technology – Viscount’s physical sound modelling platform – we can provide our customers with the very best ‘pipe organ’ tone on the digital market! The Physis audio platform can be distributed to over 28 channels, allowing for a huge variety of options with respect to speaker placement, voice separation, and sound direction.

Please see our Resources page for our technical series of videos, hosted by Francis Rumsey, Organist and Choirmaster of St Mary’s Church in Witney.

We would love to hear from you, so please do get in contact to discuss your needs.

What others are saying…

David Mason, Chairman

Mark is an accomplished player and has many years experience of working with church instruments. Mark is a welcome addition to our dealer base, and now brings Viscount instruments and know-how much closer to our customers all along the South Coast.

Viscount Classical Organs (UK) Limited

Church Organist

We tried a number of organs but immediately the Viscount Physis sound stood out to our organist with fifty-six years experience of both pipe and electronic instruments. Our personal choice (in line with our budget) was the Viscount Envoy 35-FV. The sound is superb and the value exceptional.

Norfolk

Church Organist

The congregation and I have enjoyed and appreciated the sound of our Viscount organ. There are still delights to explore in the amazing voicing flexibility offered by the Physis technology, but no one should fear this flexibility – you can simply turn the organ on, and play a well sorted instrument that seems to me and others to be amazingly good value for money.
